Sean Hannity embraces the worst of the birther scum, a former reservist who volunteered to go to Afghanistan merely so that he could file a lawsuit claiming President Obama is not an American citizen:

Now we told you yesterday about an army reserve soldier who challenged his deployment orders on the grounds that President Obama has not proven that he is a U.S. citizen.
Now that soldier, Major Stefan Frederick Cook, who was supposed to deploy to Afghanistan in the coming days, has now had his orders revoked, according to his lawyer, quote, "They just said order revoked. No explanation. No reasons. Just revoked."
Now, Major Cook and his lawyer expressed joy at this outcome. And they took it as an admission on the part of the military that the president is not in fact a legitimate citizen by birth.
Sean Hannity fails to note that the military did offer an explanation for the revocation of Cook's orders: Cook had volunteered to serve in Afghanistan (probably so he could file this suit), and after he filed the suit, the military decided it no longer wanted him.
Instead of pointing out that simple fact, however, Sean Hannity embraced the birther conspiracy theory, touting the idea that "the president is not in fact a legitimate citizen by birth."
They have a word for that kind of thinking: crazy.

It's very telling that Hannity and his pals originally thought this story was beneath them and didn't really give it any credence, but now they're so desperate to attack Obama they have to stoop down to the level of batshit crazy conspiracy theories.
Yeah. They keep on saying how Obama's popularity is tanking. If Obama is tanking, why bother with this lunatic fringe nonsense? Their actions put the lie to their polling spin. The reality is the GOP base is shrinking and shrinking, and at this point, Hannity seems resigned to just riding the elevator down the shaft.
